Happy Birthday to Me

Today is my birthday. I am 34. I like having birthdays, I like the cake, the gifts, the party hats, and all the hoopla. Although, birthdays are fun, mine are bittersweet.

My sister, Sheryl, always had to be the first person to wish me a happy birthday. She even went as far as calling me really early in the mornings when I was in college. That was her thing. For the last 9 years I haven't received a call. She died in 1998, in an accident. Birthdays have not been the same.

When she first died I didn't know what the worst day of the year would be. Would it be the day she died? Or would it be her birthday? Or would it be Christmas or Thanksgiving? Nope, none of those...it is my birthday. I think about her a lot and miss her all of the time, but this day is the worst. The first couple years after she died I would actually be sick feeling every time the phone would ring, because I knew it wasn't her. After 9 years, it has gotten better, but it is still hard.
God blessed me with having a sister 15 years older than me. She was my second mother. She loved me unconditionally. She loved me more than anyone else (this was before Tommy and girls). She was the best friend that you could always count on. She was awesome. She was my big sister and always will be. I know if she could she would have been the first to call today.

Race Ready

I am so ready to race again. Jeremy tested this week at Daytona. He had some really awesome times and some that stunk. This was the first time in the Toyota. He was going to try all kinds of set ups to see what worked and what didn't. I love NASCAR. I haven't had a driver to cheer for since July. It has been a long dry spell. I am ready for Daytona. I am ready for some Jeremy gear, like t-shirts, hats, etc. Dave Blaney is his teammate this year. The Blaney fans call themselves Blaniacs, so we are now the Mayniacs. There is someone in the Mayfield organization designing a t-shirt for us. That should me very cool.
Well, the office is picking up. Next week we should be in the depths of tax season. Most people get their w-2s by the 25th or so. I am ready to get busy. I am also ready to make some money. Amy is working out great. She is a sweetheart and we get along great. We have had so much fun already.
I have a new cell phone. My razor finally bit the dust. My new one is really cute. I hate getting new phones, because I have to learn all of the buttons, and how to use it. I am not one of those people who can pick up any cell phone and make it work, nope...not me. I do have most of it figured out. I have a cool ring tone. It is Copacabana. It makes me happy everytime it rings.
Bunco was Tuesday night at my house. We had chicken spaghetti and rolls, then cookies and brownies for dessert. It was fun. I think our Mayfield group is fizzling out. A lot of people are not going to play anymore. There are about 6 of us left that want to play so we have to recruit somemore people. We are starting a group atour church. We (Amy and I) have hand-picked our group. We should have a lot of fun. Our first game is Thursday night, I'll let you know how it goes.
Only 29 days until Daytona. I can't wait!! Go Team Green!!

Change

Tax season is beginning to get busy. I like it when people start calling and coming in.

I had my hair colored and cut yesterday. I have a new hair color--it is called peek-a-boo highlights. (I think it sounds a little dirty.) It is dark brown around the edges and blonde in the middle. I really like the blonde part, but the dark is a little too dark. It is a good conversation piece. I look a little skunkish. (I don't think that is a word, but you get the point.)

Bunco was last night at my house. When I have longer to blog I will fill you in. It was fun.

Tonight is church. Busy busy busy!!!

I'm back........................

Ok, I am going to try to get into a blogger habit during tax season. I will try, no promises.

Tax season is in full swing, not too busy yet, but plenty to do. I have a new secretary and things have been great. (I have to say that she is reading my blog.) I have had some technical difficulties the past few days.

Monday my cell phone died for real, not just the battery going dead, but the phone shuts off and won't come on. Luckily we have a spare phone, but it is old. I miss my ring tone. Justin Timberlake and I would jam everytime it rang. Also on Monday Amy's printer started printing dirty. It would print, but the pages would come out looking all grey and dirty. I did have a spare printer at home, so no big deal. Except for the fact, the spare printer doesn't feed the paper through very well. So it's like this...printing dirty or feeding the paper through manually- you decide.

Tuesday, I turn on Brenda's computer to print a tax return she did last year. Her computer is slowly dying. It turns on, lets you work for a couple of minutes and then restarts itself. The problem with that is there are 400 tax returns that she prepared last year. I have to have them saved on a memory stick in case I do a return she did last year and need to transfer the info to the new program. It has taken most of 2 days, but I have the letters A to We saved so far. The repair man came today to repair it and bring it back by Friday. I also have a battery powered stapler, that I love. I guess that sounds really lazy, not liking to manually staple papers together. When you do as much stapling as me, you will understand. I hope it is just the batteries going dead, but not sure. I did dismantle it during the computer crisis.

It has been a rough couple of days. I have done 3 returns so far and have a couple more to do as soon as I print up somemore W-2's.

Tommy is in Indy for the rest of the week, so not only am I accountant supreme, I am super mommy.
